Spiti Valley’s Secret: The Stones That Remember (Buddhist Circuit & Heritage)

In Spiti, even the stones remember. Walk along the edge of any village — whether Langza, Komic, or Hikkim — and you will encounter long stone structures running parallel to the dirt trail. Dhankar Monastery: Once the capital of Spiti, Dhankar balances precariously atop razor-sharp clay pinnacles above the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers. Its meditation caves feel suspended between heaven and earth.

The ideal circuit begins from Shimla to ensure slow altitude gain: Shimla > Narkanda > Kalpa > Nako > Tabo > Dhankar > Mudh (Pin Valley) > Kaza (Key, Kibber, Langza, Hikkim, Komic) > Chandratal > Manali.
